Objectives

The main goal of the SMARTproject was to develop an advanced software system to empower and supportmanagers of large as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in allaspects of strategic alliance (SA) formation and management, to ensuresustainable and mutually-beneficial business relationships with partnerenterprises.

· Support EuropeanSMEs considering participation in global business networks.

· Support largerEuropean enterprises in the competitive quest for globalisation.
· Research anddemonstrate world best practices, and critical success factors for enhancingSAs, exploiting European strengths in business processes and enterprisemodelling.
· Enable SMEs to bemore effective and efficient in their quest for successful teaming withstrategic partners, and to successfully network with larger enterprises, thusenhancing SMEs chances of success and sustainable growth through business-ledconsensus.
· Enable enterprisemanagers to better understand and manage SAs, thus helping them to successfullyestablish and manage new supplier/consumer relationships.

Elaboration of learning andsupport materials and a knowledge base of innovative model-shells that enhancestrategic alliances success, and educate SME managers about the significantbenefits of SAs.
